Frozen statues

First lying snow of the winter today but with the sunshine it was beautiful. The pupils made a slide down the playground. They are hoping that it freezes again tonight. We had to rescue our two figures huddled at the bottom of the peace pole because they were looking so cold. Actually, the frost could shatter them.

The shields are looking good. A few more to finish and after a coat of varnish, they will be attached to the side of the galley ready to be burned.

The shields look fabulouse. What a shame to burn them - but fun too!

I love your figures at the base of the peace pole even though they look a bit chilly. We have a Buddha near the base of our peace pole but someone knocked his head off. I hope to put it back on in the Spring.

Have a wonderful Up Helly Aa. Forthview are thinking of you.

The Headteacher of Forthview knows that she should be spelling fabulouse without an e!

I dont’ think I have ever seen anything so touching as those frozen figures at the bottom of the peace pole. Though I will be in Shetland working with Mrs Coutts later this month I won’t have time to get to Uyeasound but I am looking forward to the time when I will!

Up Helly Aa sounds like great fun.

Jackie
