Full production

Posted by: rainbowlightschool | January 18, 2007 |

The assembly line has been set up and we are in full production.Badges and decorations for Up Helly Aa are underway. We only have 8 pupils so it is a major undertaking to decorate the village hall.

Each year’s decorations are different and need to be  related to the Guizer Jarl. They must be kept secret. We get 2 hours to put them up on the morning of the big day.

We also make commemorative badges for the whole community.Up until this year we hired the badge machine. The P.7 girls calculated costs and decided it would be cheaper in the long run to buy our own machine. They sourced one on line and we secured a grant ,so we are operating our own machine this year.I think we can safely say we are involved in enterprise education.

We have a bright sunny day and everyone is out in the fresh air.Believe it is snowing down South!

It is indeed snowing in Edinburgh though there is not enough snow to have real fun. I understand other areas in Scotland have more and that some schools have had to close!

When is Up Helly Aa or is that a secret too? Sounds like the preparations are great fun.
