Take Your Partners!

Yes, it’s time to learn to dance. Social dancing has, for many years, been an important part of the PE curriculum prior to the Christmas parties.  For this reason, many former pupils enjoy dancing at social occasions on the island. Our pupils, already  good dancers,  look forward to this activity. With four boys and four girls at the school,  this could become a lunchtime activity when the weather is wild and windy outside.

The predicted storm did not happen so the house down the road stood firm!

I remember social dancing when I was at school in the 1960s and it has meant that taking part in weddings and parties has been so much fun. My own grown up children and their friends from other schools can also put together a great Dashing White Sergeant or Strip the Willow. What is the favourite dance at Uyeasound ?

So your dancing are you.I am having my brains fried at a research conference.I delivered a paper to the great and the good of UK educational research.Uyeasound to the fore once more.

Miss you lot though as you keep my feet firmly on the ground.

See you Friday as I have to be in Hayfield tomorrow.

When in doubt, announce A Boston Two Step. Definately a favourite with everybody. We also dance a wilder version of the Eightsome Reel in Shetland. Not for the faint hearted!

So Mrs C has been done to a crisp! Roll on Friday!

We have just started social dancing for this session at Sandaig too.
Social dance is not often part of our pupils’ ‘out of school lives’ here but we always end up enjoying ourselves by the time the Christmas dance comes around.

BTW I’ve just come across your blog and the name ‘The Rainbow Light School’ is intriguing.

Look at the LTS Health promoting schools newsletter or website and you will find us.It will explaing why the rainbowlight.
