Dipping the Oil Tank

Posted by: rainbowlightschool | November 21, 2006 |

In a one-teacher school with no janitor, there is always something to be done. Today it was dipping the oil tank to check how much fuel we are using now that the heating has been turned up.  What a splendid experience of practical maths for the pupils, plotting the result, reading scale, estimating how long the oil will last.

We went to the leisure centre in Baltasound after break-time where the veiwing gallery makes at excellent working area - older pupils SRA and maths, younger ones an introduction to mind mapping and a listening activity,a secondary pupil sitting a physics exam. All very productive.

Meanwhile down the road from the school, the wooden sections of the new house were being swung into place.  The forecast is for very strong wind over night so it will be interesting to see if it is all standing tomorrow.
