First gale of the winter

Posted by: rainbowlightschool | September 20, 2006 |

Last night was the first big South East gale.OUr wall of plastic bottles stood the test.We hope it survives the winter. If it does we are going to build a green house in the garden.Technology and recycling.

New curly straws for drinking water in the morning. We start every morning with a drink of water through a bendy straw. You must focus on a mid point on the horizon as you drink. This is quite difficult and you need to try and keep your balance. The sucking needs to be really hard and helps all the muscles in your mouth.Good for anyone that has trouble speaking.Sooking like this helps make a sphincter muscle in your throat work.If you make one of the them work, they work the whole way through your gut.It keeps our guts healthy as well as rehydrates us.

Bryden and Sophie spent a wet lunchtime doing action songs along to the singing kettle.Neither of them had seen them before. The rest of us had to grin and bear it!!

Autumn in Shetland takes about 3 days.We move from summer rapidly in to winter.Try and imagine autumn without trees.

We have absolutely beautiful autumn colours on our trees here in NZ. It is spring here now so we are looking forward to lovely summer weather. Our temps are about 18-19 in the afternoons now. I hope you get more than 3 days of autumn!
