Mrs Priest is back from a conference in Glasgow entitled ‘Five Minds for the Future’. Howard Gardner of Harvard University, USA, was speaking about his book to be published in 2007. The five minds are: a disciplined mind, a synthesizing mind, a creative mind, a respectful mind and an ethical mind. It was heartening to realise that we, at the Uyeasound School, have already given much thought to the ideas presented as being the way forward. Indeed the school has already incorporated many of these ideas into school practise !
Glasgow, itself, was a learning experience for Mrs Priest. Thanks to homework done on the internet, common sense and really good weather, she made the most of her time when not sitting in a conference hall with 1200 other people. Just imagine…. 1200 teachers in one place! It’s good to be back.
