A normal day

Posted by: rainbowlightschool | August 23, 2006 |

Our new primary one Sophie joined us today. Our merry band now numbers eight.Four boys and Four girls.

Today we went round the school and gathered together all our best pieces of Art and Craft .All of us have enough to enter in to the local agricultural show.We did well last year and got plenty of rosettes.

The primary seven girls have a new laptop each.Today they decided to disengage themselves from the network.Half finished stories had to be retrieved from the network pool and with a great deal of copying etc. returned to desktops. They lost Internet access. At times like these a jotter and pencil is as Hi tech as you can endure.

The fiddle club met after school. We are really lucky in Unst as Arthur a local grand dad helps keep our fiddling tradition alive.

Another day tomorrow.

Only 8 children at your school!!! I have got 230 at mine! I bet Sophie will enjoy going to such a welcoming school. I visited your school in July and saw all the neat things you have done. You must feel pretty proud to have been part of it.
I hope you do well in the agricultural show. Our country schools do that here in New Zealand.

You are lucky to have Arthur to help with the fiddle club. A lot of children here learn guitar and keyboard at primary school but are unable to learn fiddle until secondary school unless they get private tuition.

My Grandmother, Hannah Simpson, is buried on Shetland and my father lived there so i am always interested in what is happening and will come to visit you soon. here in New Zealand it is Spring at last and the daffodils are lovely. My daughter bella who is 17 now went to a country school and i can recommend it as the best education you can have. How lucky you are1 Feel free to ask me anything you need to know about new Zealand i will only be too happy to answer. Love Jane Duncan
